Cost Recovery Initiative
In April and May 2007, Rhema participated in a series of teleconference calls and meetings with industry and government to discuss the proposed Cost Recovery Initiative (CRI). We are happy to report that the concerns of the industry have been successfully communicated and cost recovery for natural health products (NHP) and veterinary drugs has been delayed.
The official word on the Health Canada website is: “The HPFB Cost Recovery Initiative is reviewing all health product lines, including human drugs (pharmaceutical and biological), natural health products, blood and blood products, vaccines, tissues and organs, medical devices, and veterinary drugs. While several new and revised fees are scheduled for coming into effect in Spring 2008, fees for veterinary drugs and natural health products will come at a later date to be determined.”
Proposed Amendments to Schedule A
The CHFA (Canadian Health Food Association) held a teleconference August 28, 2007 to discuss CHFA's response to Schedule 1539 - proposed amendments to Schedule A. Refer back to this section for further information when the notes from the call are published.
